CEO Daniel Karsevar was hired in December 2015 to bring Yumami to a co-packer and to market. He began with R&D to bring a solid theme to the umami-based brand.
Daniel worked closely with the Yumami team to guide the brand into an Asian themed grab-and-go bean dip with four Japanese inspired SKUs:
- Adzuki Bean: Ginger-Ponzu
- Edamame: Green Pea-Wasabi
- Lentil: Roasted Onion-Shiitake
- Black Bean: Yuzu-Chili
The next step was to find a co-packer that was aligned with the brand and could easily scale to national reach. This challenge was met and in March 2016, the first testing was completed. Yumami officially launched at Natural Products Expo East – Harvest Festival in the fall of 2016.
In 2017 Yumami won the coveted NEXTY Award at Natural Products Expo East for the Best Savory/Salty Snack category.
